What is Charcuterie? Charcuterie is the culinary art of preparing meat products such as bacon, ham, sausage, salami, and confit. Charcuterie has been revived by the traditional food movement and is served and presented as an appetizer, on a board with artisan cheeses, nuts, preserves and fruit.
How can I clean my charcuterie board? Simply wipe the board clean with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Avoid immersion in water, and the dishwasher. Do not scrub the board with abrasives.
How do I care for my charcuterie board? Boards may be reconditioned every few months, using mineral oil, cutting board oil , citrus oil, walnut oil or bees wax. Ensure the product is food safe. Do not use vegetable oil or olive oil, as these can turn rancid after a period of time.
Can cutting boards be resurfaced? Most damaged boards can be resurfaced and/or repaired, by sanding lightly and refinishing with oil. Heavily damaged boards, in some cases, can also be replaned to remove deeper scratches and gouges.
What does 3G Woodworks use to finish boards? We use mainly walnut oil, or a combination with mineral oil. In the event of a walnut allergy, we can substitute the oil for citrus based products.
Where are our products located? We participate in local craft markets throughout the year in Newfoundland and Labrador. But, some of our products are also available at the following locations:
